Coatshill FC 1 Lenzie YC 1999 7

This LFDA League match was switched to Croy Hub as the original venue in Blantyre was waterlogged.

It was 14 minutes into this game before we saw the first goal. Scott McNairn made a perfect pass to Sean Erwin who turned quickly and hit a great shot into the top right hand corner from 20 yards.

Eight minutes later a corner from the right was taken by McNairn to be met by Cammy Lone who ventured up field from the back and headed into the net for his first of the season.

In 25 minutes, a great run and shot from Graeme Cullen saw Coatshill keeper, McInally, make a really good save by tipping the ball over the bar. The corner was once again taken by McNairn and this time it was the head of Erwin that put Lenzie three up.

Four minutes later a throw in from McNairn found Fraser Crawford who raced into the box beating the full back and side footed the ball past the keeper into the net.

Just on half-time Crawford fired an Erwin pass neatly into the corner of the net.

Lenzie started the second half with a little less urgency and in 11 minutes the Coatshill triallist, McWilliams, ran into the box and hit a low drive acroos the keeper and in off the post.

This shook Lenzie back into action and three minutes later Erwin fired in his hat- trick and Lenzie’s sixth.

With ten minutes left McCallum’s persistence in chasing a ball paid off as he took it right off the keeper’s feet and fired in number seven to finish the scoring.

A difficult game to single out one player as man of the match as there were some great performances especially, Erwin, McNairn and Crawford but the award went to Sean Erwin
