Match gives Hospice £900 boost

A CHARITY football match between a local side – The George Thomson Select – and the celebrity charity fund-raising outfit Dukla Pumpherston at Guy’s Meadow Stadium on Sunday raised £900 for Strathcarron Hospice.

Organiser Ian Elliott said: “My grand-father spent six months at Strathcarron Hospice and I felt it was my duty to do something to recognise the staff for all the care they gave my grand-father who died recently.

“It was a brilliant day, with around 150 people there to see Dukla win 4-3; we were very encouraged by the response we got and have agreed to make it an annual event, and hope it will get bigger and better, and raise more funds for the Hospice.
