Rangers continued their pre-season friendly fixtures with a visit from Armadale on Saturday.

It was a much better result for Rangers than in the corresponding game at the beginning of last season when they were soundly thrashed by the West Lothian side.

Again a couple of trialists took part in the game and it showed that the new look team is coming along nicely and there is good reason for optimism for the new season.

A very good start to the game by Rangers with Joe Barclay bringing out a fine save from the visiting keeper within two minutes.

Armadale pushed forward but were not getting into scoring positions and all their efforts were from long range. In the tenth minute a ball over from the left found Rangers’ trialist number seven unmarked near the far post and he headed in the opening goal.

Barclay had another good try which had the Armadale keeper at full stretch to turn it round the post.

It was mostly Rangers on the attack and they kept the keeper busy, while at the other end it was still mostly efforts from long range.

Nearing the interval another piece of good play involving Reid and the trialist winger ended with Duffy adding a second goal for Rangers.
