Scott spot on as Clyde sink Stirling

Two Scott Linton penalties earned the Bully Wee three points which saw them leapfrog their opponents and move into fifth place in the League 2 table.

Barry Ferguson’s side were looking to build on their win over Berwick on Saturday, but it was the home side who struck first just after the half-hour mark.

Steve Doris slid on to get on the end of a low cross and directed the ball past Marc Waters.

The on-loan Partick Thistle ‘keeper then made a fine save to prevent Lewis McTear from doubling Albion’s advantage.

But it was a different story after the break as Clyde hit back.

They levelled five minutes into the second period when Ross Smith was penalised for handball and Scott Linton - who scored Clyde’s opener against Berwick from a penalty - was once again on target from the spot.

John Gemmell missed a chance for Clyde before the visitors went ahead on 70 minutes with a another penalty.

This time Phil Johnstone was adjudged to have illegally used his arm to block a shot from Linton who once more did the needful from 12 yards.

A Ross McMillan header hit the post as the home side pushed for an equaliser.

With five minutes left Clyde were reduced to 10 men when Mark McLaughlin was shown a second yellow card.

Doris hit the bar with the resulting free-kick but that was as close as Albion came for the rest of the match and Clyde held on for a vital victory.
