Snow puts Rangers' bid to get back to winning ways on ice for a week

The score in the Super League First Division match was tied at 2-2 when the referee decided play could not continue due to the non-stop snow.

When the match started there was nearly an own goal by Paul Doyle in the first minute as he hit the base of his own post attempting to put the ball out of play.

A Greenock shot then came off the bar, the rebound was cleared off the line and there were at least another couple of attempts before the ball was cleared.

The visitors continued to dominate and took the lead in 14 minutes when Murray had an easy chance to score after Kilsyth gave the ball away.

The Rangers defence was being stretched and a breakaway by Brown saw him add a second goal a little later.

This did wake up Rangers at last and a good run and cross by Livingstone gave O’Neill the opportunity to pull one back just after the half hour mark.

Rangers now had the upper hand and a fine piece of combined play by Prentice, Livingstone and Barclay ended with the latter levelling matters.

But snow had been falling since before kick-off and at half-time the referee rightly decided that it was time to call a halt.

Kilsyth will hope for better weather this Saturday when they travel to face Bellshill Athletic.

Cumbernauld United, whose match with Ardrossan was called off before kick-off, are also away, at Blantyre Victoria.

A supporters’ bus will leave Guy’s Meadow at 12.10pm and the town centre at 12.15.
