Teams flock to Carbrain festival

THE 2012 Carbrain Boys Club Festival took place recently with over 800 players involved.

Teams from local clubs Seafar Villa, Condorrat BC and JBM all joined hosts Carbrain, and clubs from all over Scotland also descended on Ravenswood playing fields for this highlight in the local sporting calendar.

This, the eleventh festival to be run by Carbrain BC, offered two days of sport and attracted crowds of around 5,000 people on both days.

Mikey McDermott, coach of the 1999 Carbrain Whites, said: “We had youth teams of all ages, from nursery up to 1997s. It was a really popular event with all those teams taking party, and the festival marks the end of the season for us. Now we get a well-earned rest before the preseason training starts, followed by a trip to Ayr for the first weekend in August whe we play the Land O’Burns Cup, a tournament Carbrain Boys Club has been involved in for many years.

“We had a number of sponsors we’d like to thank, including Specsavers who are our new kit sponsors, as well as Youth Football Scotland who filmed much of the action, which you can view on their website and also vote in their Goal of the Tournament competition,

Carbrain Boys Club resumes training at the end of July and will welcome prospective new members. For details of teams, coaches and how to join visit carbrainbc.intheteam.com.
