The Clyde Tots programme will be based at Cumbernauld High School on Saturday mornings, kicking off with the first block of sessions on February 6.

The scheme was launched at Kildrum Family Learning Centre nursery last week and is among a series of initiatives being co-ordinated by the club community foundation’s new head of community development Tom Elliott.

He said: “Clyde Tots offers each pre-school child the opportunity to be part of an energetic, dynamic and fun physical activity through the use of colourful equipment and carefully designed curriculum.

“More importantly, at Clyde Tots we are passionate about using football as a medium to maximise development in key areas of this formative age group from two years. We achieve this through a completely new, exciting and creative curriculum that works alongside the latest government initiatives to allow the greatest development of your child.

“In addition to all this is a structured physical development programme which is flexible and in place to assist in the development of their fundamental movement skills required to play many sports.

“As with all our programmes the key word is fun, so the high energy, entertaining curriculum fits perfectly for two to four-year-olds.”

As well as ensuring children have the opportunity to experience physical activity in a fun filled environment, the programme will also encourage them to choose exercise as a healthy way of life.

All sessions will be delivered by experienced community coaches who are SFA qualified and Disclosure Scotland checked.

Children will take part in fun football activities lasting 45 minutes each week indoors. Each week is themed so they will get to meet and hear about Alfie the Adventurous footballer or Caroline the Confident striker or maybe even meet Woody, Jessie or Buzz from Toy Story.

The sessions starts with a warm up before the fun physical activities using footballs, multi-coloured equipment and music start.
