Although Thistle are in a lower league than United – The Stagecoach West of Scotland League Central District First Division – this will be a stern test for the Cumbernauld team.

The winners of this tie will have a home game against either Thorniewood United or Port Glasgow Juniors in the semi-final of the cup on Wednesday, September 3.

This Saturday, August 30, United begin their league campaign when they entertain a strong Maybole Juniors side at Guy’s Meadow, kick-off 2pm.

The Ayrshire side have had a good start to the season in the Ardagh Glass League Cup winning four games out of five and so will be tough opposition for the locals.
