Valuable point for Clyde

A late penalty by Kieran MacDonald gave Clyde a valuable point on Saturday.

Peterhead started the game strongly and took an early lead through Fraser McLaren.

Rory McAllister then saw his free-kick well saved by Barclay as The Blue Toon continued to look more threatening in front of goal.

As the half progressed Clyde came into the game more and were unlucky not to equalise frrom a number of chances from McColm, Frances and Sweeneybefore the interval.

Early in the second half Peterhead could have extended their lead, but Jamie Redman’s shot hit the post.

In the 68th minute a mistake by home keeper Graeme Smith allowed Michael Daly ot get a shot on target, which was tipped over the bar by defender Conner McGlinchey, who was shown a red card by the referee. However, John Sweeney’s spot-kick was well stopped by Smith.

As Clyde pushed for an equaliser Peterhead’s numbers were reduced further with Rogers also receiving a red card.

In injury time Clyde were awarded a second penalty and MacDonald made no mistake from spot to give the visitors a share of the points.

Clyde will face BroraRangers in the third round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Brora, currently second in the Highland League, beat Cove Ranges 3-0 in a replay.
