A wee bit of experience away from a win

NEW Clyde boss Jim Duffy feels his side are a ‘wee bit of experience’ away from turning draws like Saturday’s against Elgin City into victories.

The Bully Wee took a 3-1 lead when Nicki Paterson netted mid-way through the second half, only to concede twice in the final 15 minutes.

Duffy said: “I thought it was a terrific game, plenty of action to keep the fans entertained and plenty of talking points. I don’t think we would have deserved to take all three points – they’re a good side at that level and I think they would have been disappointed if they had been going back up the road without a point.

“When we got in front like we did I thought we just needed a wee bit of experience to see us over the line. When Marc McCusker got sent off it meant we were backs to the wall for the last 10 minutes.”

Looking ahead to a hectic run of games, which will see Clyde play 15 matches between now and April 9, Duffy says his players must be prepared to dig deep to get results.

He added: “The approach is the same for every game. The players were exhausted after Saturday, that for me is a big plus – you don’t want them coming off with anything left in the tank.

“If we give everything we’ve got then we’ve got every chance of winning in this division. We’ve had one or two players missing and we just have to pick ourselves up and I’m sure we can put a positive run of results together.”
