Wrong end of goal rush

Maybole 5 Kilsyth Rangers 4

Stagecoach West of Scotland Super League First Division

Another defeat, now four in a row, but at least Rangers proved that they can score goals, the four they got was double what they had achieved in their previous three games.

The trouble was that they all came after Maybole had already scored five.

A pretty remarkable game all round, Maybole looked like they had it all wrapped up after an hour, but were hanging on for the final whistle at the end.

Rangers had a good chance to open their account within three minutes, a 25-yard free-kick from Kevin McBride was just wide of the post with keeper Johnstone stranded. A couple of minutes later though a Maybole free-kick was touched forward to McGrady who sent a great drive to the top corner of the net.

Another five minutes and Prentice had the ball in the home net but offside was given by the assistant referee. Just to prove he was not biased the referee also gave offside a little later when Maybole again had the ball in the net.

There were plenty of chances coming at both ends with Prentice having one effort blocked and another go just wide. Maybole were always quicker on the break and Forde scored a second from a good ball in from Reid. Almost on half-time the lack of pace in the Rangers defence led to McGrady scoring another fine goal.
