The Glasgow Cup is an intervarsity between Glasgow University, Strathclyde University and Glasgow Caledonian University. The universities compete in a variety of different sports which accumulate points and will ultimately decide the winning university.

All teams meet at the Emiartes Stadium at the end of the day for the awards ceremony and a night out will commence thereafter.

2014 is the first year in which riding has been included into the cup competition. The equestrian event includes two disciplines of dressage and showjumping.

The riders are given seven minutes on their dressage horse and five minutes on their jumping horses to get on them before they have to do a test or a course of fences.

Each rider will get an individual score on their horse but this will collectively go together to decide which team wins on the day.

Strathclyde won, Glasgow came second and Glasgow Caledonian came third.

The day ran smoothly and would be classed as a success and it is hoped the equestrian event will become a permanent fixture of the Glasgow Cup.
