A missed penalty kick and an ordering off in the first half of this League Cup game left United yet again with an uphill battle to avoid defeat. As in the contest against Glasgow Harp the ten men locals not only matched their opponents but should have secured the full three points at the finish.

United had four players unavailable on Wednesday night due to suspensions. With a further two still to hear of their punishments it will leave the team short of resources for the first few Cup and League games.
