First Texas Scramble of season at Palacerigg

The Palacerigg Golf Club gents played for the first four-man Texas Scramble of the season and the winners were Craig Hamilton, William Keen, Brian Keen and Alexander Shaw with a score of 58.

Elaine and Marie Provan continue to progress through the rounds of the Daily Mail Foursomes with a win against Airdrie ladies. The ladies played for the first medals of the season with the winners as follows: Division one, Elaine Provan; division two, Laura McKinlay and division three, Ellen Byers.

A reminder that there will be a new members night on Wednesday, May 7 at 7.30pm – come along and meet the committee and other members.

The first stroke play competition of the season was played in ideal conditions for the 160-plus who entered the Monthly Medal on Saturday, May 3.

The best net score of the day came in the second class when Grant McFarlane shot a brilliant 64 winning the second class medal by a comfortable four shots from Robert Kennedy on 68.

In first class Thomas Morrison turned in his best performance in a while by posting the best scratch score of 70. Danny Rooney claimed the best net score in the section with a tidy 68.

Kenneth Grant took the honours in the third class with a net 67.

Sunday, May 4 and a successful childrens’ fun day took place with a good number of local children taking up the option of playing golf through the summer for £10. The club would like to thank all members of staff for their assistance in welcoming all the parents and children and helping them enjoy their day.
