Good conditions at Kilsyth for Jimmy Heeps Fourball

The predicted showery weather for weekend April 26 was blown away by a steady easterly breeze which made for fairly good playing conditions for the Jimmy Heeps Fourball Trophy at Kilsyth Lennox Golf Club.

On the day it was Derek Brown and Scot McRobbie who won the trophy with a tidy net score of 64.

The Thomson McCrone team kept their league qualifying hopes alive with an encouraging away win over Bearsden on Sunday, April 27. Their next fixture is at home to Milingavie.

On Sunday, May 5, the club are holding an Open Fun Day for kids aged 12 and under – an opportunity for the local kids to experience a new venture and the healthy surrounds of the golf club. Book your child in for the afternoon by contacting Andy Green on 01236 834115 for details.

The ladies competitions at Palacerigg Golf Club are now well under way and the Frances Urquhart Greensome Trophy was a close contest with Muriel O’Hara and Ellen Byers winning the trophy with Marie and Elaine Provan runners up.

The gents played for the April Medal and the first championship qualifier and the winners were as follows: Division one, Rod Johnston; division two, William Keen; division three, Chris Bell – congratulations to all.

There will be a dance in the clubhouse on Saturday, May 31 – come along and dance to Timeless – tickets are £7 and are available at the club.
