It's snow the worst

ALTHOUGH this period of cold weather has been the most severe in recent years, with virtually no Junior football played in Scotland for the last four weeks, it is far from being the longest spell without a game.

That record belongs to 1963 when not only juniors, but the whole of Great Britain, had a ten-week shutdown beginning on the last Saturday of the old year, 1962, and no games played until the middle of March.
