Lady bowlers in action

ON Sunday, March 11 two ladies’ teams from Cumbernauld Indoor Bowling Club were in action in the semi-finals of the Glasgow Indoor Bowling Association’s knock-out competitions.

Linda Fleming was at Clydebank in the ladies singles competition, where she was up against M. Keenan from Dumbarton. Linda played very well and had a very deserved victory of 21-12 to progress to the final.

At the same time, but at the Whiteinch Stadium, the Cumbernauld triples team of A. Lloyd, J. McMillan and P. Casey were facing the team from Clydebank. This time the game was much closer. With the score tied at the close of 15 ends, the game went in to a deciding end. The Cumbernauld team held their nerve and scored two to win the match.

Both teams will now play their finals at the West of Scotland Stadium on April 8. Well done ladies and good luck in your finals.

The semi-finals of the Glasgow Indoor Bowling Association’s Gents Senior Singles and Triples competition will be held at Cumbernauld Stadium on March 18, 2012.
