League clash of the titans

After the break for the League Cup, the Scottish Women’s premier league resumes and old foes Glasgow City and Celtic mEet once more in the game of the day.

City defeated Celtic 2-1 in an entertaining match at Petershill last Sunday to progress into the semi-finals — now they must do it all over again, this time in the league.

City head coach Eddie Wolecki Black told ExtraSport: “Having to face the same opponent back to back is always difficult. In fact just last year we had to meet Hibs twice in four days.

“Also, in Europe, we have now become accustomed to playing two matches against the same team within a week in the Champions League.

“Of course it is a league game this time and we all know the game has an added outcome to it. Once again we expect a difficult tie however we do have home advantage and over the years that has proved to be vital.

“We are very much looking forward to the match and hope to have a good turnout.”

Glasgow City take on Celtic on Sunday at Petershill Park. Entry is a cash gate: adults £5, concessions £3 and kids are free.
