Major success for Cumbernauld gymnasts

CUMBERNAULD gymnasts shone when they attended a national competition in Perth recently.

The Scottish Gymnastics Levels Three, Four, Five and Six were held at Bell's Sport Centre and Cumbernauld Gymnastics Club were well represented and attained very good results.

Louise Fraser triumphed, competing in the Level Three's. She was the clear winner and took the overall title as well as taking gold on vault, gold on bars and bronze on beam.

Junior team-mate Claire Martin was in Level Four and achieved a personal best, and in Level Five Jenna Johnston won overall plus silver medals for vault and bars, with gold for beam.

Team-mates Holly Pender and Sarah Thomson were in the same level as Jenna and competed well.

Karagh Divers took bronze medal for beam and Jessica Curle received a well-earned gold medal for vault in the Level Six.

In the recent Scottish gradings, Jenna won the Level Ten, with team-mate Ciara Ruddy as runner-up.

Claire Martin took first overall for Grade 11.
