Mixed fortunes for Cumbernauld bowlers

LAST weekend Cumbernauld Indoor Bowling Club’s senior gents rinks team were in action in the Scottish National Championships.

In their first game they defeated Whiteinch by 16 points to 8 points. The next game saw them up against Glasgow and again, after a fine performance, they ran out winners, this time by 21-13.

The team of B. Christie, F. Dow, J. McConnachie and T. Turnbull (skip) have now progressed to the last 16 in Scotland. This will be played at the West Lothian Stadium on November 18, 2012. Well done gents.

The latest round of the Inter Club League’s saw the senior team enjoy a nice trip across the water to Dunoon to take on the local Cowal team. Although a small team, a visit there is always enjoyable for the warm welcome received, and Saturday was no exception. The seniors were on a winning streak and this continued with a fine win over the local team.

Results (Cumbernauld skips first): J.McConnachie 18, T. Frosdick 12; T. Anderson 27, T. Dysart 12; T. Turnbull 16, G. Ross 16; J. B. Wilson 29, J. Clark 14. Cumbernauld 90, Cowal 54.

The ladies’ team were a bit closer to home playing away to league leaders Stirling.

Again, similar to last week, despite having some very close games, and several exciting fightbacks, the ladies were again on the losing side. However, the displays give confidence that it will be our turn to win soon.
