Mixed results for soccer sides

KILSYTH Rangers continued their fine form with a 4-2 win away to Girvan which sent them to the top of the Super League First Division.

Only Ardrossan have chalked up more goals than the free-scoring Duncansfield side who have netted 16 times in their last five league games.

Unfortunately for Cumbernauld United though, five of those Ardrossan goals came against them on Saturday at Guy’s Meadow.

No doubt still hurting from their cruel Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Beith the week before, United went down 5-1 to the Winton Park outfit, leaving them second from bottom on only six points.

Meanwhile, Saturday was the end of a difficult five days for Clyde, which saw them face the top two teams in the third division.

A frustrating one-nil reverse against Alloa last Tuesday night was followed up by a stubborn performance on Saturday, resulting in a 0-0 draw with league leaders Annan, and a share of the spoils for the Bully Wee.

Now sitting seventh in the table, Clyde are four points outside of the playoff spots.
