Bowler Gavin Ansari has missed out on his bid to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in Australia.
Ansari, who lives in Lenzie and bowls for Lenzie Bowling Club outdoors and Cumbernauld Indoor Bowling Club indoors, needed to win both of this last two pool matches to stand any chance of progress in the competition at Warilla in New South Wales.
But in a close encounter with Homer Mercado of the Philippines he went down 8-5 11-7 to end his hopes of reaching the play-offs for a semi-final spot.
However the 27-year-old did end his competition on a high note with a comprehensive 10-3 11-2 victory over Japan’s Jum Koyama to finish in fifth place in the 10-player pool.
