Cumbernauld bowlers in action in Inter-Club League

LAST Saturday saw all Cumbernauld Indoor Bowling Club teams in action in the Inter Club League.

The seniors were at the Stadium where they faced Allander, one of the league leaders. Unfortunately, despite playing well and winning two of the four matches, Cumbernauld lost the overall game by 56 points to 69 points.

Cumbernauld skips – J. McConnachie, 16-15; J. Wilson, 8-24; T. Turnbull, 21-10; T. Anderson, 11-20.

The ladies were in the Stadium next, playing their second inter club match, their opponents this time being Fintry. From the beginning Cumbernauld were ahead and remained there until the last quarter when Fintry pulled ahead and went on to win overall by 81 points to 64 points.

Cumbernauld skips – J. Miller, 19-17; L. Fleming, 16-16; R. McIntyre, 15-29; A. Cairnie, 15-19.

The gent’s team were playing away from home and achived a very good result. Starting slow, after five ends they were losing by ten shots. However, they soon got their game going and took command of the amtch running out worthy winners by 99 points to 56.

Cumbernauld skips – G. Wilson, 20-20; J. Byron, 30-9; T. Simpson, 32-13; K. Brooks, 17-14.

A mixed result for the club, but some good performances which on another day could have changed the results.
