The weekend was a bit quieter at Cumbernauld Indoor Bowling Club after the excitement of the last two.
It was confirmed that the final of the Scottish Team Championships, will be played at the West Lothian Stadium in Livingston on Sunday, April 6 at noon. This time their opponents will be Arbroath.
The gent’s team also have a big game on April 5, when they meet Turriff in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup. This is also a great achievement and with several players playing in both games it is certainly a test of the improving strength of the local club.
Meanwhile the club have also had further success in the Glasgow and District competitions with the ladies fours and A. Barrie in the under 25 singles also reaching the finals. These finals will be held at the Cumbernauld Stadium on Sunday, April 13.
The club’s own championships have progressed with two further finals completed. In the under 25s, a very close game saw the lead swing from one player to the other and eventually resulted in S. Fleming beating K. Brooks to take the title.
The ladies’ singles final, played in front of a large number of spectators, was also a tense affair and produced some very good bowling form both players. It was won by L. Fleming who pulled away towards the end of the game to defeat I. Hannah 21-15 to win the title for the second year running.
