Last week was a busy one for the areas cyclists with Road Club Cumbernauld Kilsyth members involved in two races.
Firstly last Wednesday David Anderson represented the club in a West of Scotland Cycling Association (WoSCA) sanctioned race in the south sSide of Glasgow into Ayrshire and an important milestone for the club as it was the first time the red jersey was present on the Scottish racing scene.
Two members also took part in a ten-hour mountain bike marathon in Fort William at the weekend with David again and Hugh Wardrope racing mountain bikes from 9am on Saturday until 7pm that evening.
This was a tough event in the shadow of Ben Nevis that saw a team from Paisley take the top pairs spot on the podium with 13 laps of the ten-mile course.
Hugh and David managed ten between them on what was a tough course that included part of the World Championship cross-country and downhill courses combined.
The RCCK Sunday Club run saw members complete a 70-mile loop finishing over the Tak-ma-Doon Road into Kilsyth from Stirling.
Finally two members teamed up in Cyprus this week whilst on holiday to conquer Mount Olympus which goes from sea level to 8400ft in an 84-mile epic day out in 30 degree heat. Well done Gary Petrie and Philip Godley for a fantastic achievement in challenging conditions!
