THERE’S a song that says ‘This is a Man’s World’, but little Zoe Toner from Condorrat is “trying” to re-write those lyrics.
Twelve-year-old Zoe is the only female member of the Cumbernauld Rugby Club and proud of it.
She plays position and can mix it up just as well, if not better, than many of the boys on her team and she’s about to show many others this weekend in a mini’s rugby festival coming to the town.
Zoe simply explained: “I like rugby because it’s fun. It’s more exciting than football.
“It keeps you fit, I like the competitive aspect and it’s good to play against the boys.”
The Cumbernauld Rugby Club in Condorrat will be hosting the event on Sunday 27th May and are hoping for a good crowd.
The tournament will be open to kids from Primary 1 through to Primary 7 and games will kick off at 12:30. A total of 8 teams have accepted the invitation and with forecasts expecting the sun to be shining hopefully the kids and spectators will enjoy a great day.
In addition to the games there will be food stalls, a bouncy castle, rugby inflatables as well as other activities. And of course, spectators will get the chance to see this talented girl show the boys a thing or two!
