THE race is on if you want to line up for one of Glasgow’s most popular fitness events – which, for the first time, includes a new tracking system to ensure loved ones can keep up with you all the way round.
More than 3,000 men will be taking part in this year’s Men’s 10k at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, on Father’s Day – June 16.
But time is running out if you want to secure your place in the family-friendly event, which also includes a 1km Rascal Run for boys and girls aged up to 14.
The deadline for signing up via the website - www.mens10k.com - is this Monday (June 10) at 9am. It will cost just £19 if you sign up in advance.
However, if you can’t get to a computer before then you can go along in person and get a race pack on the spot by attending the athletes village at Bellahouston Park on Friday, June 14, from 6-8pm, and Saturday, June 15, from 10am-3pm. The price then will be £25.
The Men’s Health Forum Scotland 10k for Men is going to be one of the events of the year and an inspirational experience for everyone taking part.
Excitingly, this year – for the first time – the Men’s 10k is featuring the latest in real-time tracking by providing live results via partner TDL Event Services.
That means you can keep up with anyone you know who is taking part. All you have to do is register via the website and you can access real-time Facebook/Twitter updates.
A spokesperson for the Men’s 10k said: “You can really feel the excitement building as we get closer to June 16. If you’re thinking of getting involved, don’t delay. The worst feeling in the world would be sitting at home, wishing you were taking part. There’s still time
“Thousands of men will be running, jogging and walking the Men’s 10k – some of them taking the first steps towards a new life, others reaffirming their zest for fitness and wellbeing.
“It’s the premier health event of the year for men from across Scotland and beyond. Many of the people taking part have inspirational stories to tell.
“It’s a real privilege to be involved and hear the many moving, wonderful reasons which motivated people to sign up.
“Why not challenge yourself and your friends? Come along and enjoy the camaraderie and support of a genuinely feelgood event.”
The spokesperson added: “We hope all the family will be at Bellahouston Park on June 16 to support their loved ones taking on the Men’s 10k challenge.
“There’s going to be a feast of entertainment, stalls and more.
“And, of course, hundreds of children will be taking part in the 1km Rascal Run, a brand new innovation for this year.
“It’s going to be a great day for all the family – full of excitement, fun, friendship and inspirational achievement.”
