Scotland women’s team train at Kilsyth

THE Duncansfield playing surface has been widely praised this season, and now the Scottish Football Association has given the pitch a massive vote of confidence.

President of Kilsyth Rangers, Russell McKay, was contacted directly by an official from the SFA to ask if the Scotland womens national team could use the facilities for training.

The players then trained at the ground ahead of their two challenge matches against Switzerland and Belgium at the Falkirk Stadium last month.

Russell said: “The playing field is in great shape and it fills me with pride that they obviously think so highly of it that they want to use it to prepare before big games.”

The team were based at the Westerwood Hotel in Cumbernauld and won both games, 5-0 and 1-0 respectively.

Their coaching staff have since sent a letter of thanks to the Kilsyth board, thanking them for their hospitality and commenting that the quality of the surface greatly helped their preparation.
