RUNNERS are being invited to sign up for an exciting new trail half-marathon.
Adventure Zone Scotland have organised the inaugural Antonine half-marathon trail race, which will take place on Saturday, October 20.
Robert Sanderson, chairperson of Adventure Zone Scotland, has opened the race to 100 competitors of all abilities.
The race will kick off at 10am at Croy sports hub taking in Kilsyth, Twechar, Barrhill, Croy Hill before returning back.
Competitors will receive a Buff scarf - which is similar to a snood - and a medal, with prizes available for first, second and third place male and female.
The 13.5 mile trail will provide an interesting course for runners, and Robert hopes to make the event an annual one.
He said: “We hope to have this event on every year. Most people do road running but paths and trails are different.
“The surface can be more muddy and sliddy.”
The adventure racing club, who give people the opportunity to try out adventurous sports such as kayaking, are holding the event to boost their income and encourage people to take up fitness.
You can register online for the event which costs £20, or £18 for those affiliated with Scottish Atheletics or NHS, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, Army or Strathclyde Police staff.
If there are places left, people will also be able to sign up on the day.
