North Lanarkshire Provost Curley said: “I am delighted to present Ailidh and Victoria with the winning trophy.

“The Supercounty Triathlon attracts so many competitors across the various disciplines which demands skill and stamina.

“To excel in any sport is a fantastic achievement but to excel in a multi-discipline sport requires skill and dedication.”

John Scott, head of Supercounty - the Lanarkshire Civic Pride Campaign - said: “The triathlon course is particularly demanding and the girls did exceptionally well in a hard fought competition.

“Ailidh and Victoria should be very proud of their achievements.”
