Tannoch plays host to equestrian section of annual universities' multi-sports competition

The annual event is competed for by students at the University of Strathclyde, University of Glasgow and Glasgow Caledonian University.

Students compete in 17 different sports to find an overall winner and 2016 is the second year the cup has included an equestrianism section.

Stables proprietor Dawn Harrison said she was delighted the stables were once again involved.

She said: “Tannoch Stables are so pleased to have been asked to host the equestrian part of the competition for the second year running.

“This is a great teamwork event and I am particularly proud of our horses.”

Each university fielded a team of four riders who competed in dressage and style jumping, judged by Linda Lucy.

Overall the University of Glasgow finished in first place with the University of Strathclyde quartet coming second and the Glasgow Caledonian University third.

Other sports in the competition include snowsports, badminton, athletics, basketball, curling, fencing, football, golf, hockey, netball, rugby, swimming, tennis, trampolining and volleyball.
