Tryst members win nine medals
Wrestlers from the Tryst Lions Wrestling Club won a haul of medals at the inaugural 2016 Aspull Warriors international wrestling competition in Wigan recently.
Accompanied by coaches Steven McKeown and Alan Airlie, the club took down a large squad to the first domestic event of the year which consisted of a mix of youth and experience with several young wrestlers competing at their first event with the club.
The club’s wrestlers all performed to an exceptional standard with a total of nine medals being won against a high standard of opposition.
Gold medals were won by Jules Kamdem, Christelle Lemofack, Boris Essindi, Ellis Barton and Andrew McLaren and silvers went to Cameron Perratt, Daniel McMillan, Amy Keyes and Joe McCluskey. Stuart McKay, Calvin Williams, Edward McCloy and Ciaran Keelan also competed but were unfortunate not to finish in a medal position.
The performance of the day went to Boris Essindi who beat the Welsh 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Craig Pilling 10-8 in the 66kg final.
