We are definitely getting there says Smith

KILSYTH Rangers must learn to start every game the way they did against Greenock, says assistant boss Danny Smith.

The Duncansfield side controlled the game from the off at the Ravenscraig Stadium on Saturday, only to allow the home side to come back and claim a share of the spoils.

Smith said: "Again it's another game we feel we should have won but, all being considered, it was the best start we've made to a game all season. So far we've been starting slowly and it seems to take the other team to go ahead before we start to come into the game.

"But on Saturday we looked comfortable. If we can get to a stage where we're starting all our games like that then it'll be a massive step in the right direction."

Smith believes the players are growing into the season with every game and thinks they are capable of putting together a fine run of form.

He continued: "With two wins, two draws and one loss we are definitely getting there, if we can stamp out the mistakes that will be a big boost - it seems like everytime we make a mistake we get punished at the moment.

"I think we need a decent result together with a really good performance to get everyone's confidence up and then I think we could go on a run."

Kilsyth face Neilston on Saturday in another tough away fixture.

Smith added: "We're not kidding ourselves, we know it'll be a hard game but we also know we are capable of winning if we start strongly and keep working hard."
